My Dear Students

My dear students, I hope you see
How very very happy, you have made me.

On the first day I was worried because you wouldn’t talk
You just sat there and at me you would gawk!

I wondered how I would teach you
how much learning you’d actually do.

But two days later you opened up
And then you just would not stop!

So enthusiastically you took part
More than I could have imagined at the start

Like a circus not a classroom it started to look
But either way I was hooked

I looked forward to our class everyday
Cuz I enjoyed your company and what you had to say

You learned your grammar and played games
And I learned to say all your names

Even ‘Saravana’ I finally managed to get right
But it took 3 weeks, Lakshman’s encouragement and all my might!

Ajay always excited, a very sweet chap
And Peri constantly perched on somebody’s lap!

Swetha and Karishma, the more silent types
Had ideas that were sensible and bright

Aishwarya with her cool ONE…TWO and THREEEE!
And the advert designed by Jayaroopinni

Nivedhitha’s great voice as Kevin the bird
The fact that Sowmya spoke up and could finally be heard

And Tharika’s role in the advert too
All ensured our performance was super cool!

Akash and Pritam were full of creativity
And Vaithya was all about teamwork and energy.

Dinesh quietly pariticipated and was always smiling
Balaaji, or should I say S.A., kept the audience laughing!

Lakshman and Harsha looked comfy on stage
And Harsha remembered to act 11, Jordan’s age.

Helping everyone, so full of life, Tharun was
And so funny everyone calling everybody else ‘BOSS’

The ‘show must go on’ was something Harish knew
So with current or without, he directed the crew.

And everyone did their parts so wonderfully
Regardless of the tension, heat and lack of electricity.

And when we got the second chance, what a sigh of relief
But good always happens when you have, in yourself, a little belief

And when I watched you perform for that crowd
Of all of you, I was extremely proud.

I have taught many classes before this,
But this is one class I’m surely going to miss.

Oh, there’s one more thing I need to add here
Because it definitely warrants an extra cheer.

Harish, Tharun and Peri pulled a double act
The dance they taught the little ones was awesome and that’s a fact!

And though I know with school you’ll be very busy
I request you, once in a while, to keep in touch with me.

Phone or email, both are fine,
I have yours and you have mine

And if you don’t, that’s okay
I wish you all the very best anyway!

And I’ll remember the class that finished at half past seven
Was, for me always, a little piece of heaven!
